About
Thank you for taking the opportunity to learn about otters.
We here in the conservation network specialize in protecting endangered species such as sea otters, Enhydra Lutris, and several species of river otters. Did you know that sea otters play a vital role to the coastal kelp ecosystems? They prey on sea urchins whom are voracious eaters of kelp. Areas with huge populations of sea otters have shown to have healthy ecosystems filled with kelp, who then provide shelter to a variety of marine animals!
Asian Small Clawed Otters, Aonynx Cinereus, are experiencing great extinction threats from habitat destruction. Due to their utter cuteness and recent popularization via social media, a craze is generated for wanting Asian Small Clawed Otters to be kept as pets, ultimately fueling the destruction of otter families due to poaching.
